Fair trade gets rewarded: 50,000 pesos and benefits

We're joining Comercio Justo to reward the stores, businesses and brands committed to a more transparent trade that benefits everyone.

On June 22, 2022, we'll recognize and reward the businesses whose actions benefit the environment and support the growth of Argentina's small producers.

A top-notch jury will choose the overall winner and give special mentions to businesses from the NOA (Northwest), Patagonia, Cuyo, Litoral, Centro and CABA (Buenos Aires City) regions. Yes, businesses from all over the country can take part.

Who are the judges who will choose the winner and the recognized businesses?

• Dafna Nudelman “La Loca del Taper”: a sustainability specialist, activist and advocate of responsible consumption.
• Juan Pino: co-founder of Vios Vinos orgánicos.
• Jessica Oyarbide: co-founder of Marcas que Marcan. She organizes courses and workshops for purpose-driven brands.
• María Teresa Morresi: journalist and researcher specializing in sustainability.
• Carolina Pavetto: founder of Mantara, rugs woven from sheep's wool and colored with natural dyes.

They will be responsible for choosing the best fair trade business, which will take home 50,000 pesos in cash and many more prizes. They will also give out other awards.

How to take part

Any business in Argentina that meets these requirements can take part for free:

• It is part of a cooperative, association, venture or organization that is self-sustaining through its own earnings (without government aid or funding).
• It provides job opportunities to men and women with fully equal rights.
• It rejects exploitation in all its forms.
• It respects working hours, complies with regulations and pays attention to its employees' needs.
• It works with quality raw materials that are reflected in its products.
• It values sustainable production and good relationships with producers.
• It gives consumers accurate information about every product it sells.

In addition to the main prize, which will go to just one business, there will be other awards and benefits: courses, access to networking meetings, mentoring and FAIRTRADE-certified products.
